Goggles or Not?

There is evidence that children can become goggle “dependent” and therefore panic when asked to swim without goggles.

Our campaigning pollies are promising millions of dollars for  Kindytots, either as grants or with a new maternal and child health service.

The Liberal National Party (LNP) announced a $92 million Maternal and Child Health Service to give all mums and bubs the best possible start to family life as part of its plan to revitalise front line services.
And Premier Anna Bligh has promised Queensland kindys a slice of $20 million worth of grants intended for repairs and maintenance under a new Labor Party policy.
The $20 million is apparently part of a $321 million kindergarten funding package formerly brought in by the Queensland Government.

Growing Feet

Shoes that don’t fit properly can prevent natural growth, cause discomfort and lead to health problems.

LNP Leader Campbell Newman says an LNP Government will ensure mums and bubs get the best possible start to life by supporting families during what can be a stressful period.“The Maternal and Child Health Service will be staffed by nurses with maternal and child healthcare experience who will visit parents in the comfort of their own home."
"When I became Premier, just under 30 per cent of Queensland children had a chance at a kindergarten education," Ms Bligh said. "Today we now have 69 per cent of Queensland children with a place in kindergarten and we are on our way to meet the commitment to make that 100 per cent by 2014.

"About $10 million worth of grants will be available for renovation and refurbishment and $4.3 million, or about $10,000 per kindy room for equipment and resources. There will also be $5 million worth of start-up grants , about $200,000 per service, to help not-for-profit child care providers provide a kindergarten service n regional areas.
